Everyone called by God to salvation is called to a life of a disciple. Simply put, being a disciple is following Christ, learning His ways and obeying them. Discipleship then is walking alongside each other to teach others to follow, learn, and obey Christ.
Jesus gave his followers many substantive commands, including the imperatives to show mercy, do good, love one another, proclaim the good news, make disciples, and witness to the ends of the earth. This is the Christian mission, the purpose for which we are sent.
Following Christ means living a life “on mission,” working towards the ends that God desires for his people and in the world.
